Springfield-based Massachusetts Mutual Life Insurance Co., known as MassMutual, will close its Charlotte office as of June 30 and lay off 164 employees here.
MassMutual will lay off 163 employees on June 3, followed by one more between June 27 and July 3, according to a Worker Adjustment and Retraining Notification filed with the North Carolina Department of Commerce.
The company said the closing is due to ongoing consolidation of its operations. All employees were offered positions in Massachusetts.…
